I’ve long wanted to paint a puffin—one of my favourite UK seabirds. Living inland means I rarely get the chance to see them, which perhaps makes the urge to paint one even stronger. The piece is gradually developing on paper, closely echoing the image I had in mind.

Gradual progress on the pair of Sea Parrots — still some way from completion, but the piece is beginning to find its form.

I'm calling this one finished,  and naming it, A Break from the waves. Towards the end I felt I was battling with elements to make this appear as I had wished.
